2009.01.04 Leaving Mui Ne, Last Night in Vietnam

Kim enjoyed the beach before we left for our longgg bus ride back to Ho Chi Minh.
We had a 1-hour full body massage, sarappp!!

Back at Saigon - shopped and ate pho (again!) for dinner at the famous Kim's cafe while waiting for Jaime and Hyun Anh to come back from Mui Ne -they spent the morning sleeping after a whole night of partying and took the late bus home

Good bonding w Kim! Canvassed prices and prepared for the last day of ultimate shopping

2009.01.03 Mui Ne Sand Dunes & Seafood Lunch

Had a pizza dinner before taking a 5-hour night bus ride to Mui Ne, Vietnam
First time to ride a night bus with a reclining bed, ang sikip! Kawawa si Jaime haha! Rest stop had the most unusual bathroom - you had to wear their slippers before going inside, and may gas station pala ang LG!

Arrived at Mui Ne at 1am - Kim went straight to bed sa resort, Jaime and I hung out at the beach til 4 and ate pho on the way back, yumm!

Spent the next morning going to the yellow sand dunes, white sand dunes and red canyon - ang gandaaaa! Pictures can't justify how beautiful the place was, and the feeling of walking up and sliding down! The Vietnamese kids were really entrepreneurial and kept offering us "ride all day long" rates, they spoke great english too!

Had a really late seafood lunch afterwards, we were sooo hungry climbing up and down! And we ate so much - a whole kilo of shrimp wahahaha!

Really fun morning - didn't know there was so much to see in Vietnam!

2009.01.02 Cao Di Temple tour and Cu Chi Tunnels

2nd day of touring Vietnam minus workaholic Jaime :P
Booked a whole day tour at the famous Sinh cafe/travel agency really cheap, sulit! :)

We went to a lacquerware factory with handicapped workers, they made really pretty (but wayyyy overpriced) stuff. Being ultimate barats, we bought the same things at the Ben Thanh Market on our last day (haha nakamura).

Cao Di Temple - it was a three hour ride going here, pero super worth it! The place was soooo peaceful, the chanting solemn. I almost forgot which entrance I left my shoes haha! Oh, we were able to take photos with the "high priests" before the ceremony, cool beans!

Cu Chi Tunnels - this place needs to market itself more! It was really amazing to here the Vietnam's story of how they fought during the war with the Americans, being perceived as the underdogs.

They made so many clever (and really gross) traps, and dug a complicated tunnel system na sobrang nakakakuba and semi-claustrophobic, not for the weak of heart! Kim a...

woke up late after New Year's Eve and walked around Jaime's "barrio"
western breakfast at Milwaukee bar, then more walking!
*changed dollars to dong and became instant millionaires hehe :)
fruit shakes at Juice, then the real tour around the city before dinner at the Refinery
- War Museum: really gruesome pictures of the Vietnam War, with replicas of torture chambers
- Reunification Palace: where North and South Vietnam (duh) reunited :P
- Notre Dame Cathedral: inspired by its French counterpart, apparently Vietnam is the #2 Catholic country in Asia
- National Post Office: really pretty place with a lot of clocks, maps, counters and high ceilings

Was late after renewing some accounts in Manila - nawala kami at umabot sa North Harbor!!! Fun party at 19 East - Can't imagine living in Sucat/Bicutan/Alabang and having to go on the highway to go to work everyday! Gastos pa sa toll - I don't know how Inca, Dino and Alex did it, braving traffic and sore butts, going from home to Ateneo for four years - the best school talaga hahaha! :P

Fun just hanging out and chilling out with work friends, the party started at 2pm and everyone was drinking by 4 hahaha.

4pm sms from Lasallian friend: "Hahaha, wala na kayong bonfire, umuulan!"
My reply: "Whatever loser*, champion parin kami! :P"

Rain or no rain, I had a great time seeing old friends and just enjoying the celebration. Sobrang maputik and traffic! Kim, Annie, Stef (Kim's friend, not my atsi), left home a little past 7, and it was a real blessing that we had our driver take us there (I wouldn't have gone na if I had to park!)

Saw my favorite couple in the world Den and Dino, before meeting up with my barkada for Lady's birthday surprise - (waiting for char to post pics hehe! :p) Pics muna ni Den for now! :)

Go Ateneo! :) Back-to-back yan next year! ;)

The Three Most Difficult Things
Someone once said, "The three most difficult things for a human being are not physical feats or intellectual achievements. They are, first, returning love for hate; second, including the excluded; third, admitting that you are wrong."

Is it possible for the rose to say, "I will give my fragrance to the good people who smell me, but I will withhold it from the bad"? Or is it possible for the lamp to say, "I will give my light to the good people in this room, but I will withhold it from the evil people"? Or can a tree say, "I'll give my shade to the good people who rest under me, but I will withhold it from the bad"? These are images of what love is about.
From Inca - The Sacrament of Waiting

for hyper impatient people like me :P

--

The Sacrament of Waiting by Fr. James Donelan, S.J.

The English poet John Milton once wrote that those who serve stand and wait. I think I would go further and say that those who wait render the highest form of service. Waiting requires more discipline, more self-control and emotional maturity, more unshakeable faith in our cause, more unwavering hope in the future, more sustaining love in our hearts than all the great deeds of derring-do that go by the name of action.
Waiting is a mystery—a natural sacrament of life. There is a meaning hidden in all the times we have to wait. It must be an important mystery because there is so much waiting in our lives.
Everyday is filled with those little moments of waiting—testing our patience and our nerves, schooling us in our self-control—pasensya na lang. We wait for meals to be served, for a letter to arrive, for a friend, concerts and circuses. Our airline terminals, railway stations, and bus depots ...

Time + Love
Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived;
Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all the others, including Love. One day it was announced to all of the feelings that the island was
going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So all the feelings prepared
their boats to leave. Love was the only one that stayed. She wanted to
preserve the island until the last possible moment. When the island was
almost totally under, Love decided it was time to leave. She began
looking for someone to ask for help. Just then Richness was passing by in a
grand boat. Love asked, "Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?" Richness
answered, "I'm sorry, but there is a lot of silver and gold on my boat and
there would be no room for you." Then Love decided to ask Vanity for help who was passing in a beautiful
vessel. Love cried out, "Vanity, help me please." I can't help you",
Vanity said, "You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat." Next, Love saw Sadness passing by.
I'm super energetic and peppy so I love this performance!
Too bad there were too many people in the viewing platform and all the bosses were telling us NOT to jump along

Cebu Prisoners - Sister Act (June 2008)

Super entertaining! ... Thank you Lord for giving us the opportunity to watch these amazing people. It made me think beyond myself and my usual selfish concerns, and be touched about how these people in the most lonely and deflating situation can make something so beautiful

2008.06.12 Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center

Woohoo! For our 2nd day in Cebu, DPC brought us to the CPDRC to watch the dancing inmates (the same ones in YouTube) perform! Sobrang astig and galing talaga - I was speechless of how disciplined, committed, and positive they were in their performance. They danced for two hours, and everyone was just awestruck by their talent and how they've turned their lives around through dance.

Sobrang humbling talaga - that we have every freedom available to us, yet still complain, while on the other end of the spectrum, they have the least resources and freedom, but are still able to pull off something so amazing. Wow.

We went downstairs after the performances to take photos with the inmates, I had a photo taken with the warden who conceptualized and developed the entire dance phenomenon, as well as the stars of the original Thriller video! :)

ps uploaded my own videos in YouTube! Have a look - cute ng Sister Act and Jump (I think that's the title
